How will you impact the world?

Image
Chole, 12 years old on her way to impacting the world 2007 WHY IS PUBLIC SPEAKING SO IMPORTANT?              Because the future is always uncertain. With the advancement of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence, specific categories of technology skills will become extremely important; computer programmers, coders, computer science studies, every type of computer skill, will become high-level jobs. In just the last few years the Blockchain / Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency world are advancing beyond what most even understand. Driver-less cars, trucks, boats, planes and more will change the world as we know it! Everything changes: From Pony Express to the mailman, Western Union to Bell Telephone, horses to cars, cars to planes, landlines to iPhone's and now Facebook has created ( Libra:   https://libra.org/en-US/white-paper/  ).  Leadership has never changed: from Caesar to Napoleon, Abe Linco...

Question on Quora Mike, It’s PRACTICE! If you go and watch Ted Talks or Toastmaster World Champions on Youtube they all have one thing in common they are polished speakers. The road to being a better speaker/presenter is practice, learn by watching, speak as often as possible when you become interesting your audience will respond! How to overcome the fear of public speaking?

Question on Quora It is a simple answer, join a club that teaches public speaking; Toastmasters or Naga Public Speaking - www.weebewclub.com . Over the years I have seen visitors to clubs refuse to answer one question at the end of a meeting ( that’s fear). Each club asks you, what did you think of the meeting? The next question I ask is myself is why did you come to Toastmasters? What I do know if you come back and you start by standing up and talking this will change your life! In his Toastmasters World Championship Speech ( Danajayna Hettiarachchi says my father took me to this strange club where people talk ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbz2boNSeL0 Just do it! It will change your life York

What is a memorized speech?

Question form Quora Great question, Brendon, Well, memorizing speeches never worked for me? During my first year with Tampa Toastmasters, I could not remember what I wrote. My idol Barron Johnson, an ex-TV announcer, had everything it took to make a great Table Topic or pocket speech; I wanted to be just like him, haha? The day was Black Friday, day after Thanksgiving ( big shopping day in the USA ) while mowing a 3-acre lawn, listening to talk radio, the topic was the crazy shoppers! I thought what an excellent topic for a speech, so I started writing a speech in my head? Little did I know that out of the hundreds of speeches and Table Topics I was yet to give, I would only write on paper about 5. Having also joined St. Petersburg Toastmasters, I was scheduled to speak at the following Monday and Tuesday meetings. Here I was in the two oldest clubs in Tampa Bay with memberships of over 40 members each. Now I was going to deliver my first non-written speech and never had wo...

Does joining Toastmasters make a difference in your personality?

Image
York Somerville , Past Director at Toastmasters International Hi Tanu, Don’t we all want to improve our personalities? Everyone who joins Toastmasters seeks different goals; some are scared to death of speaking in public; some are polished speakers just seeking to improve their craft. Each with dedication and training will enhance their personality. My recommendation is going to Youtube and watch as many of the Toastmaster World Champions as possible. All these winners and some of the 35,000+ contestants each year started with goals like yours. Study the words, the expressions, the gestures, how they use vocal-variety , humor and how they give purpose to each part of the broad audience and seek audience participation. Seek out larger older clubs if possible that meet each week. The Toastmaster journey will change your life forever! As World Champion Dananjaya Hettiarachchi said, “ I see something in you, but I don’t know what i...
